Job Opportunities

Postdoctoral Fellow Position in the Area of Movement Science

The Sensorimotor Learning Lab at Jefferson Moss Rehabilitation Research Institute (JMRRI) located in Elkins Park, PA, has an opening for a Postdoctoral Research Fellow beginning in Fall 2025. Under the direction of Amanda Therrien, PhD, the postdoctoral fellow will investigate the mechanisms of sensory plasticity that accompany adaptive motor learning. The research will involve behavioral assessment using robotic and optical motion tracking and computational modeling approaches. More broadly, this work seeks to understand how the interaction between the sensory and motor systems contributes to the learning and control of movement. The postdoctoral fellow will be encouraged to explore these larger themes in establishing an independent line of work. JMRRI is internationally known for its research in neuroscience and neurorehabilitation and maintains a strong postdoctoral training program. This is an approximately 3-year position and offers a competitive salary and benefits.

Applicants should hold a PhD or anticipate a PhD by Summer 2025 in the area of Biomedical Engineering, Neuroscience, Psychology, Kinesiology, or a closely related discipline. Favorable consideration will be given to applicants with a substantial interest in sensorimotor neuroscience, skills in computer programming, data analysis, and statistics, and a strong record of research productivity.

To apply, please email a cover letter, CV, and contact information for three references to Dr. Therrien.

Research Assistant Position in the Memory and Perception Laboratory (Summer/Fall 2025)

Dr. Andrew Persichetti, Director of the Memory and Perception (MAP) Laboratory of Jefferson Moss Rehabilitation Research Institute is looking for a BA/BS-level research assistant to support cognitive neuroscience research on how perception and memory systems contribute to the acquisition and representation of knowledge in neurotypical individuals and stroke survivors with cognitive impairments. We use a variety of methods, including fMRI, behavioral testing, and eye tracking to conduct basic research with the aim of promoting effective neurorehabilitation.

The position is now open and will continue for a minimum of two years. The Institute is a unique environment with a highly active research community situated in the context of a rehabilitation hospital (https://rehabilitationresearch.jefferson.edu). Thus, this is an excellent opportunity for the right candidate to develop research skills while working directly on experiments; to coauthor manuscripts and present work at scientific conferences; and to participate in scholarly activities at the Institute.

A bachelor’s degree is required for this position. Applicants should have a strong academic background in cognitive neuroscience, psychology, statistics, MR physics, or a related field. Preference will be given to applicants with prior research experience with human subjects. Prior relevant clinical experience will also be considered. Other desired qualifications include excellent organizational and communication skills, and the ability to flexibly learn new techniques in a dynamic environment.

If you think that you would be a good fit, please apply by sending an email to andrew.persichetti@jefferson.edu with the subject line “RA Application: [Your Name]”.

In your email, please include a brief statement that includes: 1) your undergraduate major; 2) a description of any relevant experience with research, programming, or math/statistics; 3) a brief statement of why you are interested in working in the MAP lab; and 4) contact information for at least two professional references that can provide letters detailing your performance in prior research or clinical roles. Please attach your CV to the email. We look forward to hearing from you!
