Our Institute Updates Name to Jefferson Moss Rehabilitation Resaearch Institute
Founded in 1992, our Institute has focused on improving the lives of people with neurological disabilities through research, collaboration, and education for more than 30 years. Research at the Institute spans the translational continuum, including studies to better understand principles of neurobehavioral change through to clinical trials of therapies for stroke, traumatic brain injury, Parkinson’s disease, and other neurological conditions.
Following the recent merger between Jefferson Health and Einstein Healthcare, our team has been working diligently with individuals spanning the Jefferson enterprise to integrate the Institute into the broader ecosystem at Jefferson Health and Thomas Jefferson University.
Over the past two years, our integration as part of the Jefferson system has evolved and opened new doors to bring the Institute’s well-honed procedures for conducting human subjects research and interdisciplinary team science with Jefferson Moss-Magee Rehabilitation Hospital’s clinical infrastructure and research support, as well as with the education and research mission of the University.
In recognition of the integrated structure after the merger, we added Jefferson as a prefix to the Institute’s name, and it will be named Jefferson Moss Rehabilitation Research Institute starting in the fall. Institute Director Dylan Edwards, PhD, commented, “We are enthusiastic to share with research participants, fellow researchers, peer reviewers, donors, and the community at large how our new name and linkages will position us at the vanguard in neuroscience and neurorehabilitation, extending the reach of our research registry and allowing joint hiring of exceptional talent across various disciplines.”
